The University Secretariat supports good governance and management of the University. The University Secretariat is situated within the Governance Directorate and is responsible for the oversight and coordination of formal corporate and academic governance structures of the University, facilitating the University's corporate decision-making processes through the provision of a reliable, confidential and comprehensive secretariat service to Senate and Academic Board, their standing committees and the Chancellor.

The University Secretariat also supports the University Executive, Chair of Academic Board, Schools and university staff in a range of matters including those related to University legislation.
