University Policy on: Graduation: Academic Dress

Purpose of the policy and summary of issues it addresses:

This policy deals with the colours of the silk linings and facings of academic dress for graduates and graduands of the University.

Definitions:

In this policy and any associated procedures:

The University means the University of Western Australia

B.C.C stands for British Colour Code, a reference to an extract from a dictionary of colour standards designed for use by government, academia and various industries.

Policy statement:

1 Form of Academic Dress

1.1 The University's academic dress for graduates and graduands of the following is prescribed in accordance with Statute 11.

- Degrees

- Diplomas

- Certificates

- Master of Philosophy

- Doctor of Philosophy; and

- Other doctorates

Procedure

The colours of the silk lining and facings of the academic dress is contained in Schedule A.
