The Academic Board and Council Steering Committee has a constitution and a defined membership.

Constitution

1. The role of the Academic Board and Council Steering Committee is:

(i) to advise the Chair of the Academic Board on the facilitation of the flow of business to the Academic Board and Council; and

(ii) to make decisions, under delegated authority, when the Academic Council is in recess.

2. The committee comprises:

(a) the Chair of the Academic Board as Chair;

(b) the Deputy Chair of the Academic Board;

(c) the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Registrar, or nominee;

(d) the University Secretary;

(e) the Academic Secretary.

 

3. The Academic Secretary is the Executive Officer of the committee.

Delegations

4. When the Academic Council is in recess, the Steering Committee has delegated authority to consider and approve any urgent and emergent matter in consultation with the executive member of the relevant portfolio and/or relevant dean and/or relevant student body. Items dealt with under this delegation are referred to the next meeting of the Academic Council for noting.
